About Us

Newport Primary School is situated near the town centre of Middlesbrough and serves a multi-cultural community.

Our school was built in 1978 as a single storey building. The nursery was added in 1984 and a children’s centre with a dedicated playgroup area and community room was completed in 2003.

The layout of the building is semi-open plan with both open and enclosed teaching areas. It currently has a Nursery, Two Reception classrooms, 4 Key Stage One classrooms, 7 Key Stage Two classrooms, a Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher room, School Business Manager and DSL office, a main school office, a staff room and a multi-functional hall. We also have a learning support room. In September 2023 we will be opening our new library and outdoor classroom, which will also provide a space for nurture.

The school grounds have a large playing field in addition to hard surfaced play areas. In 2021 we were also able to acquire the land which had previously been a disused community all-weather pitch. This land is part hard surfaced and part woodland.

The school has close links with the Newport Hub and sports hall, situated next door.

Newport Primary School has approximately 316 full time places in 13 classes and 28 full time nursery places within a joint Foundation Stage unit. Nursery pupils attend across 2 sessions, morning and afternoon.

There are 17 full time teaching staff, including the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher and 33 non-teaching and support staff who support your children academically, socially and emotionally to ensure positive future outcomes for them. There is an active Governing Body who together with staff, parents and members of the community work supportively in school.
