Parents / Carers

Welcome to all parents and carers of Newport Primary School pupils.  We hope you will engage with school life and support our courses and sessions that may involve your child.  We have a variety of classes, either to support your understanding and learning of work your children may bring home or just for you.  A time to chill and meet other parents or to spend some quality time with your child.

We are always looking for ways to improve our Home – School Communication, if you have any ideas please get in touch.

Any suggestions for courses – family learning sessions – setting up a Parent Forum to help raise funds for school – we want to hear from you.

Please take a look at the leaflets below for advice and information regarding on how you can support your child within school.

The Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA)

Newport is proud of its working relationships with parents and carers, however as a school we are always keen to develop many more aspects of our home-school partnership. A parent’s involvement in their child’s learning really does make a difference and here at Newport we are committed to giving our parents the tools and support that they need to help their child to achieve to their full potential.

Over the next year, we shall be working towards achieving a national award called the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA). This award looks at how well we work with parents and carers, how welcoming the school is, and how we support parents in helping their child to learn. We aim to improve communication with parents and the community, support parents and children to extend their learning and to encourage a greater input and more involvement of parents in school life. You can find out more about the Leading Parent Partnership Award via the LPPA website: www.lppa.co.uk.

Update May 2014 – We have now reached the half way mark and you should have seen some really useful changes to the way we communicate with parents.  Again we are always trying to improve what we do so if you have any ideas let us know.  You have lots of ways to do this; call into school and speak to the staff, email us, telephone your PSA, leave a comment in the book in the suggestions box in the Main Reception or you could even come along to Miss Moore’s focus group which are run regularly…..watch out for dates.  It would be good to hear from you!
